'And just the look on her face when she said, 'I'm sorry, there's no fetal heartbeat,' said Tara Lipinski on her podcast

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski, who married seasoned director Todd Kapostasy, revealed the heartbreaking moment she learned her unborn child had no heartbeat.

The 41-year-old Olympian was open about her infertility struggles and those of her 39-year-old husband, whom she allegedly married six years ago.

When were Tara Lipinski and Todd Kapostasy married?

Tara Lipinski and her Todd Kapostasy allegedly exchanged vows in Charleston, South Carolina, as per The Sun.

They dated for two years before marrying in Charleston, South Carolina.

Lipinksi told the magazine, Southern Bride, that her now-husband proposed to her on December 21, 2015. Kapostasy was born on July 7, 1983, in Madison, Ohio, according to his IMDb profile.

He is a director and producer most known for his work on the short film 'Gifts of My Kin', the film 'The Pine Tar Incident: Making of Tar Wars', the television series 'Meddling', and the sports docuseries 'Rivals: Ohio State vs. Michigan'.

Kapostasy who has over 6000 followers on Instagram page @toddkap was a producer for the TV shows 'Elite 1 1' and Fox Sports Live, as well as 'Meddling'.

Do Tara Lipinski and Todd have any children?

Lipinksi and Kapostasy have not had children, and the former figure skater has spoken up about the couple's infertility issues.

How did Tara Lipinski find out about her pregnancy?

The Olympic figure skater, 41, stated on the second installment of her new podcast 'Tara Lipinski: Unexpecting' that after four egg retrievals yielded 13 embryos, of which only two were viable, her doctor advised trying to conceive naturally.

"She just said, 'Okay, let's mix it up. I think you can get pregnant naturally.'"

It was a ludicrous attempt, Lipinski said, adding, "There's no way this was going to work."

"She just wanted to try something different and see how my body would react to that," she stated.

"She said, 'You'll come into the office, I'll make sure you're ovulating. I'll give you a trigger shot to make sure we know when you ovulate...' Then you just go home and do it naturally."

"This is the first time we've tried, literally in our life," husband Todd Kapostasy remarked, before joking, "it's the first time we had sex."

Kapostasy said they weren't "very hopeful" the strategy would work after attempting the "timed intercourse" in May 2020, as cited by PEOPLE.

How did Tara Lipinski learn about her baby's heartbeat?

Tara described how she discovered their baby didn't have a heartbeat after going through a grueling five-year process of trying to conceive on the third edition of her podcast, 'Tara Lipinski: Unexpecting', which she hosts with partner Todd.

The athlete disclosed that before she was capable of having a baby naturally, she had four miscarriages, four unsuccessful IVF cycles, and operations. She then learned the baby didn't have a heartbeat.

The athlete said she was "praying" for a pulse but "just knew" something was amiss from the doctor's expression and that she was "worried" in the weeks before the scan.

The conversation then quickly moved to Tara's realization that there was no heartbeat, with the couple joking that she was "critiquing her body for failing her."

Tara mentioned that she never believed she would have trouble becoming pregnant before embarking on her reproductive journey.

The skater continued by stating that she was aware of her husband's great optimism and that he was trying to get her to "stop worrying."

The couple had another appointment after the scan to go to so they could get a heartbeat scan.

In addition, Tara said that she still felt anxious and that the scan had been "crazy" to her overall.

She confessed to being "a little hopeful" and "pray[ing]" for a heartbeat to show up on the screen.

The athlete added, "Well you know, I was a little hopeful and just praying for a heartbeat and it's crazy that this little thing has a flicker that you'll see on a screen. It's a big milestone to reach."

"And I walked in and sat down and I just knew. I knew from watching her, that awkward silence, that searching, I could tell she just wanted to find this heartbeat."

"And just the look on her face when she said, "I'm sorry, there's no fetal heartbeat."'
