Hollywood is home to many outstanding performers who have had a huge impact on the film industry yet, surprisingly, have not received an Oscar! The Academy Awards, commonly referred to as the Oscars in Hollywood, are honors given to film industry stars for aesthetic and technical achievements. But regrettably, a lot of stars who deserved the honor haven't earned it yet. In the words of James Cameron, "When they see a film that's too dependent on visual effects, they say, oh, that's not an acting movie," per Independent. This list features outstanding actors who didn't win the Oscar like Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Willem Dafoe, and many others.
Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp may have been nominated for an Oscar three times but but has always left empty-handed. 'The Pirates of the Caribbean' star, in some respects, is past his prime after his public, legal feud with ex-wife Amber Heard. But could he bounce back as he returns to acting in small, niche projects? It remains to be seen if the actor can ever win the most prestigious award in the film industry.
Edward Norton
Edward Norton received three Oscar nominations from 1997 until 2015. While his powerful performance and versatility have earned him a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award, the Academy Awards panel has yet to recognize his acting chops.
