The unidentified shoplifter walked into a California store with a 20-gallon garbage can and started collecting fistfuls of tobacco goods

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA: A pair of 7-Eleven workers in California heroically saved their store after taking down a brazen burglar who threatened to shoot them while clearing out the shelves. Incidentally, the shocking altercation was captured in a now-viral video, which showed one staff member keeping the thief down on the ground as his colleague whacked him with a wooden stick.

The incident reportedly occurred when an unidentified shoplifter, who obscured his face with a blue cloth, sauntered behind the California convenience store's counter with a large 20-gallon garbage can. Then, he casually collected fistfuls of tobacco goods, including cigarettes, cigars, and vapes, and tossed them into the bin as the off-camera workers pled for him to stop. "Just let him go. There ain’t nothing you can do. They’re not going to do nothing," said a worker, who was the one to apparently record the incident. As the heist continued, another store employee confronted the shoplifter about why he was stealing so much, when he threatened to shoot them.

'Watch out boss'

As things became worse, someone in the store threatened to call the police, but the robber remained defiant and disregarded the threat. Making his way to the exit, the shoplifter tried to get past an employee with his trash can of stolen goods while shouting, "Watch out boss." The pair got into a physical altercation as the worker grabbed the trash can and tried to restrain the lifter. A second 7-Eleven staff member soon arrived to help his colleague and began hitting him with a wooden stick.

"That's called whoopin' your a**," another bystander was heard saying. The employee then took a brief pause as his co-worker delivered a punch of his own to the robber's upper back, sending the latter writhing incoherently enough to topple this garbage trove of stolen items at his feet. "That’s called whoopin’ your a**! Whoop his a**! Get him!" the bystander said before asking the robber if he was ready to forfeit the heist, to which he replied, "Yeah, I’m done! I’m going to go." The 7-Eleven worker went on to deliver a couple more blows before the bystander urged him to leave the shoplifter.

'What kind of s**t you telling me?'

In a subsequent video, the workers were debating whether to report the shoplifter to the police, but eventually decide to let him walk away empty-handed. The shoplifter claimed that he was beaten so badly that he couldn't stand up and walk out on his own until the bystander calls his bluff. "You better walk tonight," he said while leading him out of the store, only for the burglar to cry in agony and beg for a soda. "What kind of s**t you telling me? You do this s**t and you want a soda? No, no, no. Get the f**k out man," the bystander said, as per the NY Post. The incident is just one in a long list of coordinated shoplifting incidents that are becoming increasingly common around the nation, including California.
