Watching Discovery+ without ads just got $2 per month more expensive.
Until yesterday, the Discovery+ ad-free plan cost $6.99 per month, but anyone signing up now will pay $8.99 per month. Existing subscribers will see their subscription price rise on or after Nov. 2 depending on when their next payment is due.
The good news is, if you don't mind watching ads, the Discovery+ ad-supported plan isn't increasing in price. Subscribers will continue to pay $4.99 per month. By doing this, there's a larger price gap between the two plans, which suggests either the ad-supported plan is quite lucrative or offering content without an ad income is getting more expensive (or both).
Unfortunately, if you're in Canada both plans are now more expnsive. The ad-free plan is increasing from $6.99 to $8.99 CAD, while the ad-supported plan is increasing from $4.99 to $5.99 CAD.
In the press release, Warner Media points out that, "This is the first time Discovery+ has increased the price of a monthly subscription in these markets since launching in January 2021. This will allow us to continue to provide can’t miss-stories in the food, home, relationships, true crime, paranormal genres - plus so much more."
