Who is Steel Panther?

Steel Panther is a comedic glam metal band with lead vocalist Ralph Saenz, guitarist Russ Parrish, bassist Travis Haley and drummer Darren Leader. The band first rose to stardom during the early 2000s under the name Metal Shop. The band changed their name to Metal Skool and then to Steel Panther. The band used to do weekly gigs on Monday nights at the Viper Room, and subsequently, the Key Club. The band appeared in a Discover Card advertisement as 'Danger Kitty' and in the sitcom 'Drew Carey Show' as themselves.

Steel Panther signed a record deal with Republic back in 2008. They were on the ballot for a Grammy for Best Comedy Album in 2010 but they did not make the cut. The band's song, 'Eyes of a Panther', has garnered over 25 million streams on Spotify along with three other songs that have over 15 million streams. The well-known metal band is set to go on tour later in May.

Steel Panther was previously entangled in controversy. In December 2018, the band announced that long-time bassist Lexxi Foxx would be missing their tour as he had to join "sex rehab." Joe "Spyder" Lester, the band's tour manager, joined the band as the temporary replacement for Foxx. Although Foxx returned to the band, he later decided to exit permanently. After a few months, Spyder became a permanent member of Steel Panther.

Steel Panther to bring the metal on 'America's Got Talent' Season 18

Steel Panther released their new album 'On The Prowl' in February and paused their tour as they are set to join 'America's Got Talent' Season 18. The band announced on Twitter on May 24 that they will appear on 'AGT' Season 18. They shared a photo of themselves alongside the caption, "Look out! America’s Got Talent is about to get a whole lot more metal! Don’t miss the season premiere next Tuesday (5/30) at 8 PM local!"

Meanwhile, in the latest preview of Steel Panther on 'America's Got Talent' Season 18, the band received a standing ovation from the audience even before they peformed. However, the band then offered judges Heidi and Sofia tickets and backstage passes to their concerts for life. The band performed their original song, 'Eyes of A Panther.' They received a standing ovation from the judges at the end of their performance.

'America's Got Talent' Season 18 premieres on May 30 at 8 pm ET on NBC
