How to encompass And Just Like That...? The Sex and the City reboot has been called cringe, camp, and chaotic. It's launched many a conversation and thinkpiece. And now, the Max Original has been renewed for a third season.
The second season is set to close its curtains on Aug. 24, with a much-anticipated cameo from Kim Cattrall (who played the beloved Samantha in the original). Ahead of the finale, Max announced the renewal, also crowning AJLT as the leading Max Original and the most-watched returning Original. Clearly, no matter what critics and fans have said, none of us can turn away.
"We are delighted to share that since the launch of season two, And Just Like That… ranks as the #1 Max Original overall, and is the most-watched returning Max Original to date," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for Max. "As we approach the highly anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our cosmos to Michael Patrick King and his magnificent team of writers, producers, cast and crew who continue to charm us, 25 years later, with dynamic friendships and engaging stories."
Executive producer and showrunner Michael Patrick King said in a statement, "We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex And The City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors.
No additional details about the next season have been revealed yet, but the Hollywood Reporter says that work on the show won't begin until after the strikes by Hollywood actors and writers reach a resolution.
The sophomore season of AJLT had a lot to unpack – from the tech used by the characters to certain decisions made by the writers. Season 3, we hope, will provide just as much for both the haters and the faithful SATC loyalists.
