Andrew Tate has been charged with rape and human trafficking

ROMANIA, BUCHAREST: Andrew Tate’s spokesperson has claimed that in the fight for freedom, Andrew Tate has made significant progress in Romania. He had been charged with rape and human trafficking, but prosecutors decided to alter the charges to 'trafficking in a continuous form' on June 13, 2023. The number of suspected victims increased by one, reaching a total of seven.

In a statement sent to Newsweek, the spokesperson said, “The legal framework has been revised and altered to ensure an impartial investigation is upheld.” The controversial influencer Andrew Tate was detained in December at his Bucharest property along with his brother Tristan Tate and two Romanian women. This was after they spent nearly three months in a Romanian prison. The brothers were placed under house arrest in April.

Tate brothers are intent on proving their 'innocence'

The spokesperson said that the allegations had been altered for legal interest. "The brothers and their legal team consider today's hearing proves their legal rights are respected and necessary steps are being taken to ensure an objective investigation. They will continue to collaborate with authorities to prove their innocence and restore their reputation," he said.

The spokesman also stated that they will not be making any additional comments regarding the particulars of the hearing and advised the press not to speculate on the content of the hearing and respect the integrity and the confidentiality of this stage of the legal proceedings.

Are amended charges more serious?

Romanian prosecutors looking into claims of human trafficking made by the Tates have stated that they are altering the case to one of 'human trafficking in the continued form' rather than individual instances of trafficking. The term suggests that the brothers are now being accused of trafficking women over a period of time rather than being accused of sporadic instances of trafficking.

The prosecutors defined this modification as one that looks into a more serious crime than what was initially being looked into. Additionally, DIICOT said that a new victim had been added to the case, indicating that the brothers are now the subject of an investigation into claims made by more than six women. The Tate brothers may receive prison terms of up to ten years in Romania for trafficking in adults. All allegations of rape, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation have been refuted by the Tate brothers.

In response to the modified circumstance, Andrew Tate tweeted, “Today I went to Dicott and they rearranged all the accusations and restructured them in a way that benefitted me massively because they dont have any evidence. Now they will try and charge me after jumping through the hoops that even made that possible with a lack of evidence.”
