As players gather to mourn what many are calling the end of Red Dead Online, some of the franchise's actors have stepped up to grieve alongside them.

One of these is protagonist Arthur Morgan's voice actor, Roger Clark. Originally from New Jersey, Clark lent his voice to the Van der Linde gangster during Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 — a full year before the release of the franchise's online counterpart, Red Dead Online. While he has gone on to do other work with Law and Order and the film Hazardous, Clark still made time to mourn with the community who so deeply loved his character.

"Although today it has my sympathies I know this community will never die," He wrote, tagging the post with "#outlawsforlife."

The community organized and hosted a funeral day for the game yesterday, July 13 — the anniversary of the last major update it received. Clark's presence clearly made an impact among the player base with several thanking him for taking the time to chime in.

@Garbo34 wrote, "Thank you so much for showing up! Your outstanding performance as Arthur made him become unforgettable and one of the most iconic video game characters ever. Simply amazing."

"Yeah. Thank you for acknowledging it Roger, you really didn’t have to do that. It’s a damn shame what’s happened to this game. The story was always the best part anyway because of your work & dedication," @SHRIKEACOLUIS_
wrote.

Among players commending and thanking Clark for his time and work as Morgan, a few took the opportunity to share screenshots and generally talk about the enjoyment Red Dead Online has brought them.

"Look, I love this game," wrote @NicHopkins1978,
"I also love the online just as it is. I don’t need bells and whistles…I just want to exist in that world. Hunting, fishing, riding horses...enjoying the slower pace of life. It’s not what everyone wants, but it’s my heaven."

@Mage_ink wrote, "You’re absolutely right, the love we have for it will never die. Outlaws for life!"

Despite players' concerns, Rockstar Games has yet to confirm whether the halt of updates to Red Dead Online is permanent or will only be in effect until the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 at the time of writing.
