Pedri is expected to return from a recent hamstring injury in time for the upcoming El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.

Pedri is expected to return from a recent hamstring injury in time for the upcoming El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.

The midfielder has been out of action since matchday two of the 2023/24 La Liga season having suffered what the club confirmed as a "right quadriceps injury" in training after a 2-0 win over Cadiz - a game which Pedri scored in.

The injury is one of the many that Pedri has suffered in recent years, with the player now having missed a whopping 66 games, largely due to hamstring strains.

Due to the reoccurrence of his hamstring issues, Barcelona have been notably cautious regarding the midfielder's injury rehab and, as such, Pedri has missed two months of the 2023/24 season thus far.

According to Diario AS, however, the 20-year-old's spell on the sidelines is set to come to an end soon. Pedri is now expected to be fit to feature in Barcelona's UEFA Champions League clash with Shakthar Donetsk on October 25 - three days before a crucial La Liga meeting with Real Madrid.

Speaking on The Residency recently, Pedri gave an update on his injury rehab, and admitted he was targeting a post-international break return in October: "Fortunately, everything has gone very well and I'm almost there.Soon, after the break, I hope to be ready."

Asked specifically about El Clasico, Pedri added: "If everything goes well, I'll be at my best."

While currently the only beaten team in Spain's top flight, Barca currently sit in third place behind Girona and Real Madrid thanks to surprising draws with Granada, Mallorca and Getafe. Barcelona can go level on points with Madrid at the top of La Liga's table with a win over their arch rivals on October 28.
