Celebrity feuds that shocked Hollywood
Hollywood stars have not always sung the same tune, and clashes between them are not uncommon in the tinsel town. From Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson holding grudges within the 'family' while working on the 'Fast and Furious' movies to rappers Drake and Kanye West battling it out on social media, to Will Smith straight up slapping Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars, feuds among celebrities have always been bred and buried over time. Here's a look at some of them that have attracted a lot of attention.
Will Smith and Chris Rock
Things came to a head at the Oscars ceremony of 2022 when Chris Rock made a joke on stage at Will Smith's wife Jada's expense. Smith walked up to the stage and slapped Rock on live television, which sent shock waves across the globe. Rock, who seemed a bit dazed at first, remained professional and continued his section without missing a bit. Smith later went on to win the award for the best actor that day but has since been banned from any Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences events for 10 years.
Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
The pair first worked together in the 2011 movie 'Fast Five' and have held deep grudges against each other. In a deleted Instagram post from August 16, Johnson discussed the on-set drama. "When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right,” he wrote. Diesel reached out to Johnson publicly over Instagram in November 2021, asking Dwayne to bury the hatchet and rejoin the 'family.'
Drake and Kanye West
The friendship between the rappers waned after Kanye called out Drake on his single 'Infrared' in May 2018 which ended with the 'Hotline Bling' artist sending West a $100,000 invoice for “promotional assistance and career-reviving” after the single’s release, which he posted a screenshot of via social media. Drake even alleged that Kanye leaked the news of his son Adonis’ birth before he announced it. The feud seemingly continued till 2021 when the two of them shared snaps on social media together.
Cardi B and Nicki Minaj
At a party in New York City in September 2018, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj were involved in an 'all-out brawl' and nearly came to blows. Eyewitnesses reported that Cardi was screaming and throwing punches on the red carpet, trying to reach Nicki, who remained calm. In an Instagram post, Cardi later claimed that comments about her being a mother to daughter Kulture set her off. Nicki later denied the accusation, calling it "clown s**t."
Machine Gun Kelly and Eminem
Machine Gun Kelly released a diss track against Eminem on his September 2018 album Kamikaze, using his song 'Rap Devil' as a play on Eminem’s 2013 tune 'Rap God.' Eminem had previously trolled Kelly on the track 'Not Alike.'
Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon
Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon had a heated fight on Twitter during the 2016 presidential election, in which Sarandon supported Bernie Sanders while Messing rooted for Hillary Clinton. Messing reignited the feud when she got angry about a story that claimed Sarandon credited Donald Trump for inspiring women and people of color to run for office.
