Brad Pitt once revealed his special place for lovemaking in his Los Angeles mansion

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brad Pitt recently made headlines when he sued his ex-wife Angelina Jolie in an updated lawsuit where he claimed he has been kept "in dark" regarding the sale of Jolie’s half of the couple’s French winery in France’s Chateau Miraval. Chateau Miraval, for most of the time during the couple’s time together served as their primary residence. But the couple also had a love nest in the western Los Angeles area of California. While the property was marked as one of the architectural ventures the ‘Troy’ star took upon himself, the mansion also housed a very special place for Pitt.

During an interview with Parade in 2009, the ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ star revealed that the property which was bordered with fences and hedges and was away from the public eye, had a place that was very special for the couple. During their decade-long romance, the ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ spent a considerable time on the property and even had a special place for having sex. Contrary to popular expectations, it wasn't the bedroom or anything cozy.

During the interview, Pitt revealed that the artificial waterfall that dotted the garden had a hidden stone grotto which according to the former partners was “a great place for sex.”

‘There’s something about stone that feels so nice’

It is evident from Pitt’s interview that he is especially fond of stonework as ‘The Lost City’ star said the house was one of his first architectural endeavors and everything in that house was custom-made. “This was my first architectural experience where I tried doing something myself,” Pitt said in the interview before elaborating, “It is something I wanted to do for decades. This is like play to me. It’s the only thing that can take me away from any problems I may have. After a few years of work, it came out so nice. Now I’ve got so many damn kids, it’s the only place we could all fit in.”

He further added that the stone detailing in that house made it very special, “There’s something about stone that feels so nice,” he says. “Everything in this house is custom-made. I went crazy.” However, after their divorce, Pitt had to let go of the house in which he invested much of his blood and sweat. He sold the house to oil heiress Aileen Getty in 2023.

‘You have to recognize real love when it’s there’

In the same interview, Pitt talked in detail about what it meant to be in love. Pitt, who was at that time happily in a relationship with Jolie said, “It’s when someone else’s interest trumps your own. I like to put it that way: trumps your own. Love of somebody else—of family, of your kids—becomes the most important, most worthwhile thing in your life. It’s what you foster and protect.” He continued, “You have to recognize real love when it’s there,” before adding, “and know that in going after it there is always risk. To live with love, you have to chance losing it. That’s also true when you decide to have kids. It’s the risk you take for love.”

In another interview, Jolie shared her version of the meaning of true love in an interview with NBC News where she highlighted having a common purpose gives more fulfillment to love. The ‘Lara Croft’ star said, “And what that something is that we didn’t have the same value for how we wanted to live our lives, what we wanted to do with our lives. If we wanted to be of use to others, in what ways? And that at the end of the day, as much as you can have fun with them, you can have great s*x with somebody, you can have all that stuff, if you don’t wake up with a common purpose, then it’s not going to work.” Unfortunately, Hollywood's 'Brangelina' split up after filing for divorce in September 2015 and the former couple are locked in bitter custody battles.
