The Atlanta Braves received a positive update on catcher Sean Murphy, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury suffered this past Saturday.

The Atlanta Braves have dealt with their fair share of injuries so far this season, but they still sit in first place in the NL East. But this past Saturday, the Braves saw one of its top additions from this offseason leave with an injury.

During this past Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies, catcher Sean Murphy left due to left hamstring tightness when rounding first base on a single in the bottom of the third inning. Since then, Murphy has not taken the field for the Braves, with the fanbase wondering if he would hit the injured list.

On Tuesday, ahead of the team's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Murphy did some running and said that he had no issues with his hamstring when doing so. As David O'Brien of The Athletic points out in his tweet below, it's looking like Murphy will be avoiding a stint on the injured list.

Braves: Sean Murphy could avoid the injured list

MLB.com's Mark Bowman posted a video of Murphy participating in on-field drills at Citizen's Bank Park ahead of the Braves series opener against the Phillies.

This past Sunday, Bowman tweeted that Murphy underwent an MRI, and it was determined that he was dealing with irritation in his hamstring.

The Braves, who were eliminated in the NLDS by the Phillies last year, looked to bolster their batting order and managed to get one of the best catchers available that offseason. Following a three-team trade also including the Milwaukee Brewers, the Braves acquired Murphy from the Oakland Athletics.

So far this season, Murphy has recorded a .287 batting average, a .385 on-base percentage, a .535 slugging percentage, 12 home runs, 33 runs scored, 42 RBI, and 58 hits.

Fans and the team are holding out hope that Murphy will be 100 percent by later this week. Again, that will all depend on how his hamstring holds up in the coming days.
