The Buffalo Bills signing Leonard Floyd away from the Los Angeles Rams is a massive pickup.

By getting Leonard Floyd to agree to a one-year deal, the Buffalo Bills are all-in on trying to win a Super Bowl this season.

After starring collegiately for Mark Richt at Georgia, Floyd was a top-10 pick by the Chicago Bears in 2018. While it didn't pan out for him with the Monsters of the Midway, Floyd thrived playing for the Los Angeles Rams, recording at least nine sacks all three years he played for Sean McVay. Floyd may be on the wrong side of 30, but he may have plenty of high quality ball left in the tank.

By going to Buffalo, Floyd reunites with his former Rams teammate Von Miller. Together, they helped Los Angeles win Super Bowl 56 over the Cincinnati Bengals only two seasons ago.

This was a fantastic move made by the Bills this late into the game in free agency, but it remains to be seen if this will help them get over the top in the deep AFC to play for a Lombardi Trophy.

Buffalo Bills add former Los Angeles Rams star Leonard Floyd to their pass rush

Obviously, there is a lot to like about this free-agency acquisition. Although Floyd is not really a Pro Bowl-caliber player, he is a high-end No. 2 pass rusher in this league. He has been a consistent playmaker for the Rams over the last three years. Even more impressive, he continued to play well, despite Los Angeles having just suffered its worst season since McVay took over the team.

By going to Buffalo, it shows us two things. One, Floyd is about football. That is why you go to Buffalo as a free agent, willingly. And two, he wants to play for a contending franchise. Buffalo is on a short list of about seven or eight teams that can realistically win the Super Bowl. While I have reservations about them eclipsing Cincinnati or the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC, this move helps.

Overall, these are the type of low-risk, high-reward type of veteran signings championship-caliber teams make. Not to say Floyd is a year-to-year player at this point of his career, but he is also not a kid anymore. My favorite thing about this move is all the cool pass-rushing combos Floyd and Miller could theoretically do playing off each other, assuming Miller gets back to full strength soon.

For now, it is hard to poke holes in what looks to have been a fantastic signing for the Bills here.
