USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams loves having former Arizona wide receiver Dorian Singer playing for the Trojans now.

Caleb Williams is a shining example of how the better half of college football lives over at USC.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner stands as good of a chance as anyone of being the second repeat winner after only Archie Griffin of Ohio State fame. While it remains to be seen if Lincoln Riley's Trojans team will play a lick of defense, we know the offense will be straight fire, dawg. As if it needed any more fuel, they were able to land former Arizona star Dorian Singer in the portal.

Jokingly, I'd assume, Williams supposedly asked the USC coaching staff to go get Singer in the portal after their conference game in Tucson last season.

Williams too was a Power Five transfer, following Riley to Los Angeles from Oklahoma last year.

Singer steps into a huge role left by former Pitt star and Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison, now of the Minnesota Vikings. With their powers combined, Williams, Singer and USC can go places, baby!

Caleb Williams is so happy to have Dorian Singer playing for USC and not Arizona

There is a lot to unpack here, but these few things immediately come to mind. One, even if U of A lost Singer to a conference rival, so what? Jedd Fisch is doing a phenomenal job of accumulating talent in Tucson. Look for the Wildcats to have one of their best seasons in years this fall. Two, this move not only raises Singer's national profile, but it only adds to the growing legend of Williams.

Yes, we have to accept that transferring is just now part of the equation in major college football. It's different, but get used to it. What I think is getting lost in this move and in the earliest stages of the Riley era in Los Angeles is, what if the Trojans don't make the College Football Playoff this year? They should be able to once it expands in 2024 when they join the Big Ten, but let's go, man!

See, I feel this season is one where an honest confrontation of sorts is either going to serve USC going forward in an effort to grow … or this will just resolve into Oklahoma West. Williams and the offense is good enough to be a top-four team, go 11-1, win the Pac-12 and make the playoff. The problem is I trust Alex Grinch's defense about as far as I could ever throw any sleazebag politician.

Could you imagine if Grinch's defense prevented Williams from achieving all that he could in his two-year run at USC? It might, as Williams could go down as one of the best college players to never make the playoff. I don't think we want that to happen. I mean, it could, but going for broke offensively is probably the only way to counterbalance a defense nobody should ever even trust.

Ultimately, we could be looking at the best quarterback/wide receiver tandem in the Power Five this year. Yes, I would not be the least bit shocked if Williams-to-Singer was every bit Joe Burrow-to-Ja'Marr Chase in Cincinnati, and LSU before that. That is an absurdly high bar, but this duo can live up to the expectations. Sadly, football is a team sport and one where you must play defense…

For now, look for Williams to find Singer for well over 1,000 yards during his first season with USC.
