It was a big recruiting weekend for college football powers Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State with commits and predictions galore following official visits.

While the recruiting class of 2024 will be in the spotlight in December and next February on National Signing Day, the real work on the recruiting trail gets done over the summer.

Schools like Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State took the opportunity to make an impression on visiting recruits this weekend.

Here's a look at some of the biggest stories in recruiting:

Georgia football recruiting: 4-star RB Chauncey Bowens flips from Florida

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs pulled one over on SEC rival Florida as four-star running back Chauncey Bowens flipped from the Gators to Georgia during his official visit.

Bowens originally committed to Florida last September but it seems his trip to Athens turned his head. His Twitter header and profile picture now prominently feature the running back wearing a Georgia uniform.

Georgia is getting a good one. Andrew Ivins of 247Sports described the 5-foot-11, 219-pound prospect as a "thick downhill runner with the vision and foot speed to produce big gains." He ranks No. 202 in the 247Sports composite and the No. 12 running back in the class.

The Bulldogs are now also favorites to land four-star DL and Top 100 prospect Jordan Thomas from New Jersey, picking up a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction from Steve Wiltfong.

Michigan football recruiting: 4-star DL Owen Wafle commits

Michigan's recruiting weekend landed them a new commitment in four-star defensive lineman Owen Wafle, a former Notre Dame commit.

Wafle helped lead the Hun School in New Jersey to a 9-0 record with 24 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in 2022. The No. 406 prospect in the 247Sports composite definitely brings size with that production, standing 6-foot-2, 290-pounds.

Wafle's commitment was just one positive aspect of the latest wave of official visits. The Wolverines picked up predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for four-star OT Bennett Warren, four-star edge rusher Elias Rudolph (who was projected to Ohio State late last year), four-star edge rusher Dominic Nichols and four-star defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale.

Jim Harbaugh's staff already boasts the No. 2 class in the cycle behind Georgia, but there are still moves to make, that much is clear.

Ohio State football recruiting: Buckeyes pick up big predictions

Ryan Day hosted some big hitters this weekend, including five-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker. The battle to land Baker will continue over the summer with Texas, Georgia and Oregon lurking but it looks like Columbus made an impression on several prospects who visited as well.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball saw predictions in Ohio State's favor for four-star edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot and four-star safety Jaylen McClain.

However, the most exciting spark of momentum surrounded a player who wasn't visiting this weekend: Eddrick Houston.

The five-star defensive lineman who ranks No. 27 in the 247Sports composite was visiting Georgia this weekend but that didn't stop Steve Wiltfong from dropping a Crystal Ball prediction for the Buckeyes or On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine from declaring Ohio State in the lead for his services.

The plan is for Houston to announce his commitment on Aug. 22 after he finishes out his tour of official visits with Ohio State and Alabama. When he arrives next weekend, the Buckeyes just have to find a way to close the deal.
