Marvel's Avengers launched back in 2020 and follows the story of teenager Kamala Khan, who gains superpowers during a celebratory day for the Avengers. Following a tragedy, the Avengers disband opening the way for science corporation A.I.M. to take over and threaten to eliminate all "Inhuman" individuals. Kamala must reunite the Avengers in order to combat the threat.

The live-service game offered up numerous free DLC packages, adding new playable characters and missions that continue the game's story. But, almost three years after launch, it seems things are getting ready to wind down for Marvel's Avengers.

Crystal Dynamics to End Support for Marvel's Avengers

In a blog post from Jan. 20, Crystal Dynamics announced that following Update 2.8 on March 31, 2023 there will no longer be any new content or features added to Marvel's Avengers. Official support for the game will end on Sept. 30, 2023.

Despite support ending, both single- and multi-player gameplay will continue to be available. That said, no new digital purchases of the game will be available after the date.

As for the game's premium currency, the blog stated, "Credits will no longer be purchasable and all remaining Credit balances will be converted into in-game resources to aid ongoing adventures."

"As a show of our appreciation for our community, starting March 31, 2023 we will make all the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content available to all players for free. Every single Outfit, Takedown, Emote, and Nameplate from the Marketplace, Challenge Cards, and Shipments will be free for all players from this date onwards if you own a copy of the game."

Despite this offering, the studio announced that Spider-Man will remain exclusive to PlayStation.
