DeAndre Hopkins made a promise to the wide receiver room of his future team as he navigates free agency after getting released by the Arizona Cardinals.

With over a month before the start of NFL training camp, teams have the opportunity to make additions to their roster via free agency. When it comes to the biggest name available, it's undoubtedly wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. After being floated in trade discussions, the Arizona Cardinals opted to release him from his contract back in May. That's quite the message for wide receiver groups. Now, it's a matter of which team will be able to offer a deal that will get Hopkins will agree to and ultimately sign.

Hopkins has met with two teams thus far since his release from the Cardinals. The first team was the Tennessee Titans, who brought the wide receiver in for a visit. The Titans do need a wide receiver, as it has taken a hit since the team traded A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. But, Hopkins left without a deal.

The second team that is in on the Hopkins sweepstakes is the New England Patriots. Despite the team adding JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason to pair with DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne, the AFC East has gotten a lot tougher. The Miami Dolphins have a dynamic wide receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The Buffalo Bills are still the favorites to win the division with Josh Allen at quarterback. Then there's the New York Jets, who traded for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and signed wide receivers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Mecole Hardman to pair alongside Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson. Hence, stocking up the wide receiver room with Hopkins could be beneficial for the Patriots.

Joining the Patriots would be a reunion for Hopkins, as his former Texans head coach, Bill O'Brien, is the offensive coordinator. But, Hopkins left without a deal, but the Patriots are reportedly optimistic that they will be able to sign him.

When healthy and on the football field, Hopkins is a game-changer. Whoever does sign him ahead of the 2023 season, Hopkins promises that teams' wide receiver room that their life will be easier with him on the team.
