Diogo Jota praises Alexis Mac Allister's range of passing after he bagged an assist in Liverpool's 4-2 win over Karlsruher in a pre-season friendly.

Diogo Jota has praised new team-mate Alexis Mac Allister's range of passing after the Argentine's impressive Liverpool debut.

The World Cup winner was signed by Liverpool in early June, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract after the Reds agreed to pay £35m plus add-ons to sign the midfielder from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Mac Allister made his first appearance in a Reds jersey on Wednesday evening, bagging himself an assist in his new team's eventual 4-2 win over German outfit Karlsruher - sliding the ball through to Jota for his second goal of the game.

The man he assisted, Jota, was full of praise for Mac Allister when speaking to LFCTV after the game, citing his range of passing as being a particularly impressive facet of his game: "I really like these kinds of players. They just see these passes.

"I just need to make the run and he will make it. I think I will link up very well with him."

Jota also took the time to discuss Liverpool's tactical set-up for the friendly win, saying of their new approach under Jurgen Klopp: "I think the last 10 games of last season, when we also played with this system, we showed a lot of signs of improvement, and we now have pre-season to really build on that and these ideas. I think we will be ready for the start.

"Like I said, when you do the things and you are rewarded with the goal it feels better, you feel more confident and it gives you the trust to keep on going."

Liverpool continue their pre-season tour of Germany on Monday when they face off against SpVgg Greuther Furth, with their Premier League due to kick off on Sunday 13 August with a tricky-looking away trip to Chelsea - who will be turning out for the first time under Mauricio Pochettino.
