Doechii also talked about why she creates music in the first place as she looked back on her journey to success

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Doechii is being called the next big thing in the rap industry, especially among female artists. The ‘What It Is (Block Boy)’ crooner has had a lot on her plate lately, including Doja Cat’s The Scarlet Tour.

“It's like when you're getting close to the finish line and you're about to hit the turbo button. It feels like that,” said the Florida musician.

Doechii talks about her bond with Doja Cat

Doechii has been vibing with her new pals Ice Spice and Doja Cat, and they have also posted snaps together.

“I think it's definitely important,” she said, talking about forming a bond with Doja and the importance of community in the industry.

She added, “I mean, how I came up in the music industry, I came up in a really small town and I was really in the underground scene, so community has always been really important to me, so to know that that's important to Doja too is really cool.”

“And to know that beyond, on a professional level, she wants us to bond in a deeper way, to connect over something besides music is really, really cool and it makes me excited for the tour. It shows me that it's going to be fun as well as hard work,” the 25-year-old further explained to People.

“If I was younger me watching this [tour] happen, I would be gagging like, what is happening right now,” she added, going on to say, “This is like the rap Destiny's Child. This is crazy,” referring to Beyonce's first band.

'Pro Freak' rapper Doechii wants to be an inspiration

Doechii has been working hard to get to this level. She started with her 2020 hit ‘Yucky Blucky Fruitcake’, and rode on her successful singles in 2022 and 2023.

“I know when I dropped ‘Yucky Blucky Fruitcake’, it was a lot of children that kind of surrounded that song,” she told the outlet, adding, “The same thing is happening for ‘What It Is.’”

She further explained, “I remember doing that same thing when I was younger and just hearing your favorite song or getting really invested in the artists and kind of growing with them from there. I definitely was in their shoes, so it resonates with me and it hits and it connects.”

Doechii, who was inspired to create music because of other artists, wants to pay it forward. She said, “I just want my fans to be inspired. I've gotten back to the root of why I do music which is, I always want to inspire another artist like my favorite artists inspired me, so I just hope that the next icon is somewhere in that crowd and they're watching me like, ‘I can do that. That's what I want to do.’”
