BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NEW YORK: Actress Emily Blunt issued an apology for an insensitive remark made during a 2012 chat show.

On October 20, an old clip from the 'Jonathan Ross Show', featuring the 40-year-old British actress, resurfaced online.

In the September 12, 2012 episode, she made a comment about the physical appearance of a Chili's server.

Blunt appeared in the show to promote her 2012 movie 'Looper.'

While conversing with the host Jonathan Ross, she made a 'fat-phobic' comment about the waitress.

"If you go to Chili's you can see why so many of our American friends are enormous," the actress told Ross.

"Well the girl who was serving me was enormous."

Emily Blunt is 'appalled' by her comment

As the clip resurfaced on the internet, the 'Devil Wears Prada,' actress did not hesitate to apologize.

"I just need to address this head-on as my jaw was on the floor watching this clip from 12 years ago. I'm appalled that I would say something so insensitive, hurtful, and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell on a talk show," said the statement from Blunt's representative.

The statement further expressed, "I've always considered myself someone who wouldn't dream of upsetting anyone so whatever possessed me to say anything like this in that moment is unrecognizable to me or anything I stand for.

"And yet it happened, and I said it and I'm so sorry for any hurt caused. I was absolutely old enough to know better," the statement continued.

Fans were blown away by Emily Blunt's 'genuine' apology

A decade-old clip from the show has provoked the ire of Blunt's supporters.

Nonetheless, her admirers were appreciative of the way the actress addressed the matter. They commended Blunt for her "sincere" apology.
