Former Chiefs Super Bowl winner and longtime NFL veteran Bashaud Breeland was arrested in Charlotte with drugs and multiple guns in a stolen vehicle.

Bashaud Breeland, a former NFL cornerback who spent eight seasons in the league, was arrested in Charlotte, NC during a traffic stop this week, as reported by TMZ.

The police stopped Breeland driving a 2020 Mercedes-Benz that had been reported stolen in the state of Florida. In the car upon the stop, the NFL veteran and Super Bowl LIV champion with the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly had "a bevy of weapons" in the vehicle along with 5.45 pounds of marijuana, magic mushrooms, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Breeland was booked into Mecklenburg County Jail early on Tuesday morning but was released from custody roughly three hours after entering the facility. He faces eight charges that start with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and also include drug and gun charges as well.

Chiefs: Super Bowl champ Bashaud Breeland arrested on shocking charges

Breeland was originally drafted by the now-Washington Commanders out of Clemson in 2014 where he spent his first four NFL seasons. He then signed a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers before landing with the Chiefs in 2019.

That year, he was a key piece on the Chiefs defense helping complement Patrick Mahomes and a budding unstoppable offense. Breeland also played a pivotal role en route to winning a Super Bowl, recording a team-high in tackles and an interception in the win over the 49ers. That earned him another one-year contract with Kansas City for 2020.

Before that season began, however, Breeland was arrested for a physical encounter with police in South Carolina after open alcoholic beverage containers and marijuana were found in his vehicle. He was charged with resisting arrest, among other charges. He was also suspended for the first four games of that season for a failed drug test.

Breeland was then hit free agency again in 2021, signing with the Minnesota Vikings. He played most of that season, his last regular-season action in the NFL, but was waived after an altercation with teammates in December. He landed on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2022 but was eventually released.
