This came days after Fox News Channel got labeled as the most-watched cable news network with Sean Hannity standing first in the key demo ratings

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The ratings for cable news networks have recently been revealed and Forbes reported that Fox News Channel was the most-watched cable news network in August and, “In the key demo—the ratings metric most valued by advertisers—Hannity was first overall.”

Fox News anchor and the host of ‘Hannity’, Sean Hannity took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to talk a little more about the ratings, but focused more on CNN’s ratings and how they have “absolutely cratered” over the last few months.

However, the internet didn’t seem too pleased with Hannity’s dig against CNN, not only on X but also on his official website, where he dedicated an entire article to the matter.

Sean Hannity reveals CNN’s ratings

In his tweet about CNN’s ratings, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity wrote, “CNN’s ratings have absolutely cratered over the past few months. According to Nielsen, in July CNN’s total daily viewers amounted to 470,000 on average...”

In addition to his tweet, he addressed the topic in-depth on his website, where the article was titled, “THERE'S A NEW (DOOMED) SHERIFF IN TOWN: CNN Hires NYT Exec for CEO [DETAILS].” The article, linked in the tweet, started with Hannity staff mocking CNN as they wrote, “Seventh time’s a charm?”

The article detailed a little more about CNN’s newest hiring, “Three months and four interim leaders later, CNN has finally settled on a new CEO —former New York Times and BBC exec Mark Thomspon; CNN made the announcement on Wednesday.”

Sean Hannity’s tweet on CNN ratings backfires on Fox News

Instead of being applauded for his own ratings, the internet focused on Sean Hannity’s dig at CNN as that is what Hannity focused on too. However, the internet’s response was primarily negative.

One person wrote, “Sounds a lot like Fox News since you fired Tucker,” and another said, "Weren't you FOX sued recently for LIES and more LIES.”

Fox News was repeatedly accused of “lying” after Hannity’s tweet as another person noted, “At least they didn’t have to pay 800 million for lying to their viewers like y’all did…”

Another person wrote, “The important thing to remember about this is that CNN didn't pay $787.5 million to settle a defamation lawsuit for the lies it told every night.”

Hannity was also mocked by some as one user wrote, “You got 300 likes in 4 hours 😂😂Now that’s “cratered”. Some others came to CNN’s defense, with one writing, “… because CNN is a news station not willing to spread outright fabricated lies.”
