Gerard Pique's response to potential Barcelona title celebration.

Gerard Pique has addressed speculation surrounding his involvement in Barcelona's Lal Liga title celebrations.

Barcelona are on the brink of securing their first La Liga title since 2019, with a win over inner-city rivals Espanyol - who are currently sitting in the relegation zone - being enough for La Blaugrana to win the title.

Pique, who decided to retire midway through the current season, featured in seven league matches during the first half of the campaign, making him eligible for the title medal. Manager Xavi addressed rumours that Pique could be involved in title celebrations, confirming that if they triumph the team will extend an invitation to the former defender.

"Pique is a special case because he retired. He didn't join another team like other cases. We have considered it, and we will inform him to invite him to celebrate the league with us," Xavi stated.

Pique, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, refused to comment on his potential participation in any celebrations, stating that the team need to concentrate on winning La Liga before title celebrations can be considered: "You have to win it first on Sunday.

"I'm very calm now," before reiterating, "First, you have to win it."

If Barcelona secure the title this year, it will mark Pique's ninth league triumph with the club. Pique announced his retirement in November of last year, stating that his last Barcelona match would be La Liga match against Almeria two days later.

The defender, who started his final game as captain, was taken off in the 84th minute to a standing ovation with the Barca players wearing shirts for the game with Pique's name and number printed on the back.
