Olivia Munn and John Mulaney spent a day at the beach on Saturday, July 22, and faced difficulty while trying to apply sunscreen to their toddler

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Olivia Munn and John Mulaney have been busy learning how to handle parenting since the birth of their son Malcolm in November 2021, and the duo never shoes away from posting on their social media pages about their experience of picking up the new talent.

The actress, 43, and the comedian, 40, recently had to go through another difficult parenting lesson while trying to apply sunscreen on their toddler on Saturday, July 22, while on a family beach outing. "It takes two adults to put sunscreen on one toddler. And we didn’t even do a good job," the 'Iron Man' star quipped in the caption of her Instagram post, documenting the said trouble through a series of images.

How old is Olivia Munn and John Mulaney's son?

Malcolm Hiep Mulaney, the child of Olivia and John, was born on November 24, 2021. He is currently about one year and eight months old, as reported by PEOPLE. The couple introduced Malcolm to the public on Christmas Eve in 2021, and ever since then, both have documented Malcolm's cutest moments on social media. Olivia has especially focused on her journey of motherhood right from the early days, never missing posting about a milestone of their child.

'Putting sunscreen on a toddler is incredibly difficult'

In the first set of four images, the actress can be seen applying sunscreen to the couple's child while sitting less than 100 feet from the ocean. The delighted mother can be seen looking at her hands, which were covered in the white lotion due to the ordeal. Olivia looked comfortable in white shorts and a matching sheer top over her bikini. On the other hand, John was spotted attempting to wipe off extra sunscreen from their son's legs as he was on the opposite side of him. Olivia did acknowledge the ordeal by saying that "putting sunscreen on a toddler is incredibly difficult." Apart from the main post, the actress took to her Instagram stories to share her parenting lesson. She wrote, "As you can see, I'm [very] bad at it," over a picture of their son being slathered in the sunscreen.

'Use a makeup foundation brush'

Meanwhile, friends and fans quickly reacted to Olivia's post, with many flooding the comment section with suggestions for the parents. "Doesn't get any easier when they are "big kids"- lucky for me Story has her dad's Italian skin and just gets a beautiful brown while I get freckles," wrote Jill Demling, while a dermatologist commented, "YES! Dermatologist approved 😍 I like mineral sunscreen lotions for initial application and sticks (4 passes) or sprays (sprayed on our hands and then rubbed on their skin) for reapplication." "Get sunscreen sticks. Life changer," advised another. "Parenting pro-tip: Use a makeup foundation brush to put the sunscreen on. That way you don’t get all the mess on your hands and it’s easier to apply. Swear it’s a life saver!" commented another helpful fan, while one user quipped, "John probably needed a bucket of it didn’t he."
