People spend hours on TikTok every day spearheading new maximalist beauty practices, with the latest being the "everything shower" trend. While a regular shower's purpose is to clean your hair and body, an everything shower takes a more luxurious approach by incorporating any and all skin, hair, and self-care treatments you wish to include in the mix.
People spend hours treating themselves from head to toe as part of the process. Experts broke down the trend and provided all of the procedures required to take an everything shower properly.

What is 'everything shower' on TikTok?
"The everything shower is not just making sure you are fully groomed but rather a reset to the mind, body, spirit," explains Hayley Wood, licensed esthetician at THE NEW KNEW, as reported by CNN underscored. "It’s about taking that extra bit of time to fully transform into the version of yourself you deserve to be. This means taking a thoughtful approach to your whole routine from head to toe."

Libby.
“They might not all be incorporated each day, but would all be performed in the shower time period. Benefits include efficiency and prioritizing self-care, which has positive impacts on mental health,” she added.

The experts gave some pointers and general procedures for optimizing your everything shower experience.
1. Before shower treatment- Wood recommends dry brushing for light exfoliation and stimulating circulation, as well as prewash treatments for the scalp and face. She also recommends applying a gentle exfoliating mask and splashing water on the face to avoid getting the mask in the eyes.
2. Hair wash- Wood recommends going for shampoo and conditioner first, letting the latter sit in the hair as you multitask. You can also use a dedicated hair mask after shampooing and conditioning to target dryness, frizz, damage, and weak hair. Rinse the conditioner or mask after some other steps.
3. Exfoliating- Exfoliation should be limited to once or twice a week to avoid over-exfoliation, irritation, and damage to the skin barrier. Exfoliators with glycolic, salicylic, and/or lactic acids are best according to the experts.
4. Shave- If shaving is part of your routine then shave after exfoliating. You may obtain a closer, smoother shave by first removing any dead skin cells, which will also help you avoid razor burn and bothersome ingrown hairs.
5 Body wash- It's time to rinse away your conditioner or hair mask just before your body wash. In this manner, you can ensure that any hair product residue is washed off your skin as you cleanse your body. Choose what you want your product to address, from nourishing body washes to acne-fighting cleansers.
6. Face wash- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. It helps in removing all pore-clogging ingredients from your skin. If you applied a face mask before getting into the water then make sure you wash your body with water once again.
7. After shower treatments- Wood and Libby recommend using a mist, moisturizer, or nourishing oil on the face first, then body moisturizing while the skin is still damp. Massage the lotion in and get deeper into relaxation.
