LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian opened up about the stress and frustration she experienced while dealing with ex-husband Kanye West’s back-to-back controversies over the past few years. “Sometimes I feel like if he were to hit rock bottom, that’s his journey that he needs to figure out on his own,” she said during a recent episode of the new season of ‘The Kardashians’.
“I used to run around and call everyone behind his back, and be like, ‘It’s gonna be OK, it’s gonna be OK, don’t worry. Just give him another chance.’ I used to spend hours and hours and hours of my day to be the cleanup crew. I just don’t have that energy,” Kardashian revealed. The SKIMS founder married West in 2014. The couple, who share four children, North Saint, Chicago and Psalm, parted ways in 2021 and finalized their divorce in 2022.
‘It’s really hurtful and it sucks’
Over the past few years, West has made more news for his controversies than his musical talent. From wearing ‘White Lives Matter’ merch and praising Hitler after getting suspended from social media over anti-Semitic tweets to revealing intimate details about his marriage to Kim Kardashian during political rallies, spewing vitriol against the latter’s now-ex Pete Davidson and sharing several conspiracy theories about the Kardashian-Jenner family, the rapper has managed to keep himself and Kardashian in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
In the June 1 episode of ‘The Kardashians,’ the SKIMS founder finally broke her silence on the situation in a tearful conversation with her mother, Kris Jenner. “Even how he looks so down on me for my sex tape, brings it up all over town, all over the media. Like, thanks for reminding people once again.” Kardashian said. “All of his shenanigans is gonna be far more damaging to the kids one day than my tape will ever be, and I have to sit here and not say anything, ever, because I know one day my kids will appreciate that. And I know that is the best thing for them,” she added.
The reality star went on to say that protecting her children amid her former husband’s controversies is her key concern. “I still feel the need to not talk about it and protect it from my kids and I always will feel that way, but God, if people knew… I just would never do that to my kids. It just is really crazy.” When Jenner asked Kardashian if her children is aware of the situation, the latter said, “[North] actually doesn’t know and that’s what’s so crazy. When stuff is said, it’s a chain to my whole household. No TV, only Apple TV. I can’t risk an Access Hollywood … or anything on the news coming up with their dad mentioned and they want to watch.”
She further shared, “I have to figure out a way to protect and so they still haven’t seen anything, but then I go into crisis mode.” During her final confessional on the issue, Kardashian said, “I’m the one being accused of so many things and being blamed for so many things and it’s really hurtful and it sucks.” The 42-year-old then explained, “But, I can control how I react and I can control if I’m a mess, [and] then my kids will see that … I really do believe in my soul that one day, my kids will appreciate my silence, my understanding and my grace, and I will try my hardest to keep it together at all times.”
‘Anything and everything for attention’
Social media users were quick to respond to Kardashian’s confession and took to Facebook to share their reaction. “She best be worrying about getting her own clean up crew,” one said. “Kim knows how to clean??? All i ever seen her do was polish a Knob,” another trolled. “But you knew what you were marrying! COME ON….. and has 4 kids with him,” one noted. “And y’all thought Ye was the narc,” a fourth mocked.
Some accused Kardashian of using West’s name for being relevant. “That’s what you do when you need a storyline and relevance on a show,” one wrote. “Anything and everything for attention,” added another. Meanwhile, others alleged West has moved on while Kardashian is still stuck. “Kanye still giving her relevance. Let him live his life,” commented one. “Girl he have move on and allegedly married. Don’t do this to your kids. It’s too late. He seems to be doing better since y’all divorced so just call it a win win for both of y’all!” wrote another.
However, some also came to Kardashian’s defense. One said, “I’m glad she left she’s trying to start healing” while another sympathized, “Just another one that thought they could change someone, and found out she couldn't!!!”
