NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Internet blasted Miller Lite for being “woke” after a commercial 'Bad $#!T to Good $#!T’, released on March 7, 2023, showed the beer brand addressing the portrayal of women in their previous commercials. The ad, as part of its Women’s History Month campaign, featured actress and comedian Ilana Glazer, who said, “Centuries later, how did the industry pay homage to the founding mothers of beer? They put us in bikinis. Wow.”
The ad, which has been unlisted on YouTube and removed from other platforms, saw Glazer saying, "It’s time beer made it up to women, so today, Miller Lite is on a mission to clean up not just their s---, but the whole beer industry’s s---." She added. "Miller Lite has been scouring the internet for all this s--- and buying it back," states Fox News.

Many were quick to react to the ad with one writing, "I'm a woman that drinks beer and I find this a bit condescending. Not a fan of the commercial." Another commented, "Miller Lite thinks women are fragile victims. Bud Light doesn't know what a woman is. Is it too much to ask to just brew beer instead of meeting your ESG requirements?"
'I know women have been erased from building many industries'
Talking about the ad, Glazer said, as stated by Muse by Clio, "I know women have been erased from building many industries from the ground up, and yet I was still surprised to learn that they were among the first beer brewers in history. After years of treating women like objects, the beer industry has an opportunity to shed more light on just how powerful women's contribution has been."
Who is Ilana Glazer's husband David Rooklin?
Glazer, who co-created and acted in the Comedy Central series ‘Broad City,’ is married to David Rooklin. Rooklin is a scientist who did postdoctoral work in molecular modeling at New York University, according to the New Yorker. As per his LinkedIn profile, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Oberlin College. In 2017, he co-founded Redesign Science.
Glazer and Rooklin met in 2012. Talking about it, Glazer told US Magazine, “I met him after FX passed [on Broad City] and before Comedy Central picked up the show. I was very humbled. He’s in science so he doesn’t know comedy. We met in Washington Square Park and we just made eyes and it was like, ‘Damn.’” People states that the two tied the knot at a secret City Hall ceremony in February 2017.
In a conversation with LiveKellyandMark, when Glazer was asked, "How's your scientist husband has been?" She replied, "He's good. He's a hot scientist." Glazer has been private about her life. But in 2023, the comedian, who became a mother in 2021, opened up about the challenges of pregnancy and childbirth. She said, "Nobody told me, when it came to pregnancy, that sometimes you're very horny. It was shocking to me," reports Popsugar.
