Tom Holland confirmed that he has been on this break for quite some time now, and no, it has nothing to do with any unfavorable reviews his most recent movie received

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Surprise! Tom Holland's acting gap year is almost over. Following his dramatic performance as Danny Sullivan in Apple TV+'s miniseries 'The Crowded Room', the 'Spider-Man' actor announced that he would take a year off.

Holland, however, recently confirmed that he has been on this break for quite some time now, and no, it has nothing to do with any unfavorable reviews for his most recent movie during an interview on 'Live With Kelly and Mark' this week.

He said, "It's so funny, Obviously The Crowded Room came out, we didn't have very favorable reviews, so the press story was that I have taken this year off because of the reviews. But I'm eight months into my year off. I've been chilling at home in London, going to Grands Prix, playing golf."

'Doing my best to keep them alive and all that sort of stuff'

In an earlier interview, Holland, who was also an executive producer on 'The Crowded Room', said that he was taking some time off as he said "a result of how difficult" the show was, noting that it "did break me". At the time, he said he's been "trying to be, you know, regular bloke from Kingston and just relax."

Holland added, "I've been seeing my family. I've been seeing my friends, I've been, you know, going to the garden center and buying plants and doing my best to keep them alive and all that sort of stuff," as reported by EW.

Holland previously revealed that he had intended to take a break after appearing in 'Uncharted' and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' but was instead drawn in by the notion of 'The Crowded Room'. The Akiva Goldsman-created television show centers on an antisocial youngster, who is detained following a gunshot at Rockefeller Center. He is forced to come to terms with his enigmatic past and how it impacts his future by a sequence of disclosures, which are spearheaded by Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), an investigator, as per reports.

Holland said, "I'm no stranger to the physical aspects of the job, doing the whole action-movie thing, But the mental aspect, it really beat me up, and it took a long time for me to recover afterwards, to sort of get back to reality."

'I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home'

He recalled a situation where he himself found it impossible to separate from his role, which happened nine months into production. Holland said, "I was seeing myself in him, but in my personal life, I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, 'I'm going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character.' And, obviously, we were mid-shooting, so I decided not to… It was unlike anything I've ever experienced before," as reported by EW.
