NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Real Housewives of New York City' star Bethenny Frankel uploaded a video on Instagram on Sunday, claiming she was "broke" before joining Bravo.

However, these claims were countered by users in the comment sections as many wondered how Bethenny managed to go to a Polo match if she was broke.

Bethenny captioned the video, "Housewives story time... I had debt & no clear path." Answering a comment from a previous post that asked, "Wait, how did you get on housewives if you only had $8,000?" Bethenny replied, "I was the question mark character. They were looking for a fifth wife."

The reality star continued, "Bravo said they wanted/needed/required a fifth wife and the four moms, four Manhattan moms, had been filming and production company thought they were fine before but Bravo insisted there needed to be five so they had to go in the hunt."

She then revealed she met Jill Zarin at a Polo match in the Hamptons and that she and Bobby pushed for her with her producers. Bethenny added she, "was broke" before joining 'RHONY'.

Listening to these claims a user slammed Bethenny saying, "No one that is broke goes to “watch polo” lol." Another mocked, "If $8000 is broke, I’m screwed."

One commented, "I think your version of broke is different then most. Respectfully. Broke to most means we don't even have gas or a place to stay in the Hamptons."

The same person added, "No one broke is going to a polo match in the Hamptons. Annnd didnt your boyfriend have some money."

Another slammed Bethenny, "I can’t with broke and 8k. I get for you that was broke. Have you any idea how many people are broke and homeless and never thought it could happen to them? Way too liberal with the word broke."

The person further said, "Broke is couch surfing with friends who would rather not. You literally have no idea. I think it’s really wonderful you made it big and I remember cheering you on but I think I hurled again. It’s very untrue what you are saying. You were not broke. Stop it. You don’t know broke."

"All of you saying 8,000 is enough and not broke lol her broke is not our broke. She’s comparing it to her peers and tax bracket and where she is now. We are not the same," commented a user.

Another laughed, "She wasn’t broke. Lol."
