Adele revealed collapsing backstage due to a sciatica attack during her Las Vegas residency

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Singer Adele, 35, has shared that she collapsed backstage due to a sciatica attack during her Las Vegas residency, as reported by The Sun.

She informed her audience at The Colosseum that a member of her production team found her immobile backstage after the onset of a flare-up. She recounted, "They picked my whole body up off the floor.” Adele also had to sit down during her 'Weekends With Adele' performance, explaining that she needed to rest her sciatica.

What is Sciatica the Adele suffers from?

Sciatica, a distressing back condition, typically results from a herniated disc that compresses the sciatic nerve extending from the lower back to the foot. It often causes shooting pains, and cramping sensations, and can even incapacitate a person, rendering them unable to walk.

Adele has grappled with chronic back pain for years, and earlier this year, she discussed her struggles on stage during a Las Vegas show, visibly hobbling.

While addressing the crowd and launching T-shirts into the audience with a handheld cannon, she remarked, "I've got two more, I've just got to get over to the other side of the stage. I have to waddle these days because I have really bad sciatica," as captured in a video obtained by the Daily Star.

What sort of health challenges is Adele encountering?

Adele's journey with pain has been long-standing; she shared in an interview with The Face magazine in November 2021 that she had dealt with pain for half her life. This was prior to her significant weight loss, which she pursued as a means to combat anxiety.

The artist spoke candidly about her transformation, revealing that she had experienced her first slipped disc at the age of 15.

Subsequently, after a C-section during the birth of her son Angelo, now nine, her physical challenges escalated. Losing weight has enabled her to engage more actively with her child. She described her health transformation as a "metaphor for surviving."

Adele's appearance has been a topic of discussion since her return to the limelight after her divorce in 2019. She acknowledged the positive impact of her physical health on her anxiety.

Reflecting on the pain she endured before losing weight, she expressed contentment with her current state, saying, "I'm definitely really happy now, I'm more agile because I can now move more, because of my back. I got my core strong."

She recalled the moment when she first slipped a disc while sneezing and revealed the impact of her C-section on her core strength.

She added, "I slipped my first disc when I was 15 from sneezing. I was in bed and I sneezed and my fifth one flew out. In January, I slipped my sixth one, my L6. And then where I had a C‑section, my core was useless."

Recounting her experience, Adele shared, "I've been in pain with my back for, like, half of my life, really. It flares up, normally due to stress or from a stupid bit of posture".

She emphasized, "But where I got my tummy strong, down at the bottom, which I never had before, my back don't play up as much. It means I can do more, I can run around with my kid a little bit more."

Regarding her improved health, Adele elaborated, "But I like feeling strong, I really do. I love it. I was lifting weights this morning, and I've gone up from what I was doing a couple of weeks ago".

"When I feel that I have the weight of the world – of my world at least – on my shoulders, I can handle it a bit more because I've gone up 10 pounds with my weights. It really was just a metaphor for surviving."
