Andrew Tate is know for his controversial statements and his fans call him 'Top G'

BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: Despite living in Romania currently, Andrew Tate is not a Romanian. He is undoubtedly one of the most popular people in the entire world at the moment.

The former kickboxer first gained popularity a few years ago when his controversial statements began to circulate online.

Tate is known for giving misogynistic statements and is often criticized by many across the world.

He was earlier a kickboxer but when he made his appearance on the British reality series Big Brother in 2016, he gained further popularity.

Andrew Tate’s Nationality

Tate was just freed from house arrest in Romania, where he presently resides. He was hauled into jail back in December 2022.

However, it is important to note that Tate is not Romanian. The former kickboxer is of mixed African American and British ancestry because his mother is British and his father, Emory Tate, was an American.

Andrew Tate was reared in Luton, England after being born in Washington, DC, in the United States. His relocation to Romania took place in 2017.

During a guest appearance on the Fellas Podcast, Tate provided the following justification for his migration to the nation, “I like Eastern Europe as a whole because corruption is far more accessible. I find it offensive that a police officer in England will stop me and refuse to take a bribe.”

Andrew Tate’s need for attention

Since he first appeared on the social media landscape, Andrew Tate has expressed his opinions in a very public way.

Daniel Knight, his former sponsor and the creator of Sidekick Boxing, thinks that 'Cobra' says a lot of those things only to garner attention even though many of his opinions seem to be quite controversial.

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Daniel Knight said, “I think he can be like an actor. To be honest I think he should be in Hollywood. What he says on camera doesn't mean what he [believes] in person."

He added, "If you bring it back, he literally used to set up a camera in his own room and start ranting about [topics] for views.”

He further added, “I'm glad you brought that up because he's saying things for clout. I do think whether he's believed these things or not, that has been another marketing ploy."

"That's exactly the same thing he did for Sidekick. He boasted about money I had given him... Huge chunks of cash that I hadn't. So I know a lot of things he does for clout," he said.
