Andy Muschietti directed 'It' and 'It Chapter Two' for Warner Bros that amassed close to $1.2B at the box office worldwide

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: James Gunn has a new vision for the DC Cinematic Universe and fortunately for the fans of the franchise, it includes a new, darker and grittier Batman film. For far too long, DC has suffered embarrassment as Marvel took the leap with its barrage of superhero films but with ‘The Flash', DC comics is now on the brink of reigniting a fallen universe and along with Gunn, has just the right man to aid them into a new era.

Andy Muschietti was a struggling filmmaker a decade ago. With only one horror film under his belt, he was knocking at the doors of the studio, looking for gigs until Warner Bros gave him a chance to adapt Stephen King’s ‘It’ into a feature film. It was a box office success and Muschietti was given the chance to direct the sequel which brought big money for Warner Bros. The director soon became the studio’s golden boy and was handed the superhero flick, ‘The Flash', which until now has garnered a lot of praise from everyone. Warner Bros now wants Andy to lead the next wave of DC projects, which includes a Batman film named ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold.’

Andy Mushcietti jumps from ‘The Flash’ to ‘The Batman’

Gunn’s exciting new vision for the DC universe has garnered a lot of excitement among fans but Warner Bros has its eyes set only on Muschietti to lead the way. If many are to be believed, ‘The Flash’ is a complete home run that will mark a new era of superhero films in DCU. Such words of appreciation and delivering three blockbuster films back-to-back has only cemented Muschietti’s reputation as a box office-friendly director who has the vision and rakes in big money for the studio just like the auteur James Cameron.

However, the 49-year-old director is also thinking of making a Flash sequel which hasn’t been confirmed yet. Muschietti believes that there’s still a lot left to explore in the multiverse of the fastest man alive. Warner Bros has not yet provided any information but is open to Muschietti helming the next Batman project.

What is 'Batman: the Brave and the Bold’ about?

For ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold,’ an older Bruce Wayne will be coming to terms with having a son named Damian. Christina Hodson who wrote the script for ‘The Flash’, is expected to pen the script for ‘Batman: the Brave and the Bold'. Muschietti is being tapped to direct Batman because of the element of horror that 'Brave and the Bold' possesses. The new Batman feature has a feel of supernatural that is usually missing from the earlier Batman films.

Mushcietti who directed ‘It’ in the past is well-versed in the world of the supernatural and can weave in the occult and mystical aura in Batman to near perfection. Given Warner Bros' support for Muschietti, an announcement confirming his directorial position can be expected soon enough.

‘The Flash’ arrives in theaters on June 16.
