Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino praised Raheem Sterling for his stunning performance in Saturday's 4-1 win at Burnley, though joked 'it's his job' to play well.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino joked that Raheem Sterling was only doing his 'job' during their 4-1 win at Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues fell behind early on at Turf Moor when Wilson Odobert gave the hosts the lead, but Pochettino's men responded emphatically to chalk up back-to-back victories for the first time since March.

Ameen Al Dakhil put the ball into his own net following a cross from Sterling just before half-time. After the break, the tricky winger was hauled down by Vitinho inside the 18-yard box, with Cole Palmer scoring the resulting penalty to put Chelsea ahead.

Sterling then grabbed a goal for himself with a fierce left-footed strike before combining with Palmer leading to Nicolas Jackson's finish.

In his post-match press conference, Pochettino was asked just how good Sterling was.

"It's his job, no? To play well!" the Argentine laughed.

"All players try to play well and today he was well. He was involved in the goals and I am so happy for him and so happy for the team. The team was good, the performance was fantastic, they deserve the praise. So happy for them and go to the international break with a different feeling to the last."

Pochettino was then asked if it meant more for Chelsea in a psychological sense to have to come from behind and win given their poor start to the season.

"Yes, of course," he replied. "When you concede first and then you need to break down the opponent, you feel proud when you achieve that.

"I think the team was playing well and we concede the first situation, that we concede a chance and that was unfair but the team was really good. We were solid in the whole team and we scored before the end of the first half which always helps a little bit in your belief for the second half we controlled the game."
