LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ champion Ben Chan, who had a rocking comeback in May after his illness, had mind-boggled viewers with a continuous nine-game winning streak. Ben returned on the show after suddenly leaving in April when he was diagnosed with mild Covid. Upon his return, he dethroned the then-eight-day-champ, Hannah Wilson. After losing his win streak, he revealed inside information about the game show, when it did not allow host Ken Jennings to wear certain outfits while filming.
Ben Chan, a philosophy professor at St Norbert College, from Green Bay, Wisconsin dominated the game. After his continuous nine-winning streak, he lost his tenth game when host Mayim Bialik pointed out that his response was incorrect because of one wrong letter. He was up against contestant Nancy Duran and was about to emerge as the super champion but Bialik broke his victory streak. After the streak ended, he disclosed that Ken Jennings came to the set in a hoodie, but he couldn’t wear it on stage.
'Jeopardy!'s strict outfit rules
‘Jeopardy!’ champ Ben Chan first met Ken Jennings when the former appeared on the show for the first time. Although Ben’s streak ended in late May, he talked about his last day, particularly about Ken on that day. He said that Ken walked in on the game show set rocking casual wear. However, he joked that he’d undoubtedly be changing.
Ben took to social media and tweeted, “On my first tape day, Ken Jennings quipped that they wouldn't let him do the show in the Uniqlo hoodie he was wearing.” He shared a picture of a Uniqlo blazer that he wore on the day he lost the streak adding, “I wanted to scream, "I am wearing a Uniqlo jacket RIGHT NOW!"" He continued mentioning Ken, “I did not [scream that], but now consider it screamed @KenJennings.” On the day of his unstoppable $252K run, he wore a Uniqlo blazer and shared a picture of the same on his Twitter. He revealed that he did not get a snap of Ken in his casual hoodie, though that would have been a unique change as compared to his usual appearance since he only wears suits to host.
‘Jeopardy!’ clothing recommendations
Recently, a ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant told a source about the rules for wardrobe in terms of competing. They revealed that the show had its clothing conditions which stated, “Included in our pre-show documents were clothing recommendations. Among them: no all-white tops, no olive-colored tops, and avoid clothing with busy patterns," as per Outsider.
