Mayim Bialik opened up about her staph infection after one of her followers inquired about how many ear piercings she had

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Jeopardy!' host Mayim Bialik revealed a scary detail during a candid chat on her YouTube channel, sharing that the appalling incident was a result of her crazy number of piercings.

Furthermore, 'The Big Bang Theory' actress Mayim Bialik talked about "Oversharing, highly sensitive, and the dangers of self-diagnose" in the video, where she replied to questions submitted by her followers. What caught the attention of her viewers was Bialik's admission of getting a staph infection, which nearly also spread to her eyes from one of her piercings. However, the actress didn't seem too serious while sharing the gritty details, as she joked about having several ear piercings, including an eyebrow piercing at one point.

'Jeopardy!' Mayim Bialik opens up about getting a staph infection

On the latest episode of 'Ask Mayim Anything', a follower asked Bialik, "How many ear piercing do you have?" to which the 'Jeopardy!' host replied that she had a total of 14 piercings. "Well, I have eight on the right, six on the left," explained Bialik, continuing, "But one of the piercings on the left, 20 years after having it, one day decided it did not want an earring in it anymore." "I preceded to get a staph infection, which spread to my eyes," the star revealed before humorously mentioning that her response about her ear piercings was a long answer to a simple question.

However, she did point out the placement of her earrings, saying, "Five of them on the regular lobe on the right side. The rest is up high. And on the left, I used to have four, and then the others are up high." Bialik even mentioned having an eyebrow piercing in the past, which she eventually removed, stating, "I did have an eyebrow piercing for a period, but I took it out. Now I just have a scar. My eyebrow hair grows funny in that area. Something they should have warned me about."

'Sometimes, a category does not play well as expected'

'Jeopardy!' fans have lately expressed their dissatisfaction with the show's writing team, claiming that past games have been overly difficult. In June, the Movie Mashup category was criticized for being confusing and barely making any sense. Another category which required identifying Shakespeare's plays based on their first speeches, which was also deemed challenging. Responding to these criticisms, producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss addressed the issue on the 'Inside Jeopardy!' podcast. She acknowledged the commentary on the difficulty of the boards in that particular game and clarified, "I saw a lot of commentary about the difficulty of the boards in this game. Yes, difficult," adding, "People were also commenting, 'It's because the writers are on strike.' We finished all of Season 39 with material written completely by our union, the WGA writer." The ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which began in May, arose from a failure to reach a new three-year film/TV contract agreement between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

"Sometimes game boards seem more difficult based on contestants. Sometimes, a category does not play well as expected. But it really is about the combination of the three people on that stage in that show, and their wealth of knowledge," Foss explained, concluding, "They could really play those same boards on a different day and have a different result."
