Jesse Marsch will not become the new US men’s national team manager.

Jesse Marsch will not become the new US men’s national team manager. Despite previous reports linking the former Leeds United manager to the Stars and Stripes, his agent Ron Waxman denied any possibility of his arrival on social media.

“Jesse Marsch will not be the next USMNT manager,” he tweeted.

Sources confirmed earlier that Marsch “stood the leading candidate” to take over the position, as new USSF sporting director Matt Crocker was familiar with his work. Prior to taking on the role with the United States, Crocker attempted to sign him as Southampton’s manager but talks broke down.

Now, the American side will look elsewhere to find a permanent replacement to the vacant role. The return of former coach Gregg Berhalter remains a possibility, after he turned down the chance to lead Liga MX's Club America to remain available for USSF.

Other candidates include Patrick Vieira.

Interim manager B.J. Callaghan is currently leading the team in the CONCACAF Nations League, taking over for Anthony Hudson who served as a temporary solution following the departure of Gregg Berhalter. But Hudson left the post on May 30 to explore a coaching opportunity in the Middle East, leaving the USMNT scrambling.

Following Callaghan's appointment, Crocker insisted the organization aims to “make an appointment by the end of the summer.”

For now, the Stars and Stripes will focus on the Nations League and CONCACAF Gold Cup campaigns, where they hope to defend their titles and triumph against rivals Mexico and Canada.
