After Joe Burrow had to be carted off the practice field, you may be wondering who the Bengals backup quarterback is. We've got the answer.

With Joe Burrow at the helm, the Bengals have Super Bowl aspirations. He got them close last season and everything about this offseason has been geared towards getting over that hump.

The one thing no team can account for is injuries, however. And unfortunately that's the dark cloud that just sent the city of Cincinnati into terror.

Video showed Burrow pulling up without contact during Bengals training camp on Thursday. He had to be carted off the field.

While the extent of the injury is not yet known, it certainly doesn't look good. So who is Burrow's backup and can the Bengals reasonably rely on him to step in if the injury is serious?

If Joe Burrow is injured, who is the Bengals backup quarterback?

The Bengals depth chart going into training camp looked like this:

  1. Joe Burrow
  2. Trevor Siemian
  3. Jake Browning

So Siemian is the backup for Burrow.

Fans may remember Siemian from his days with the Broncos. He was drafted by Denver in the seventh round in 2015 and stayed with the team for three seasons. Peyton Manning lef the Broncos to a Super Bowl while Siemian was a rookie.

When Manning retired, Siemian surprised just about everyone when he won the starting job coming out of training camp in 2016.

He started 24 games over two seasons in Denver, collecting a 13-11 record. However, he completed just 59.3 percent of his passes and threw double-digit interceptions in each of his two years as a starter.

Since then he's spent time with the Vikings, Jets, Titans, Saints and Bears, starting six games in that span without a victory.

Simply put, Siemian is a backup quarterback at this stage in his career. And his backup, Jake Browning, is barely that, without a snap logged in his career.

So if Burrow is badly injured, the Bengals will certainly have to go out and find someone to fill the gap left behind by their star quarterback.
