AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan laughed uncontrollably while discussing HBO sports commentator Larry Merchant's notorious encounter with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather during a match. When things heated up between Merchant and Mayweather, it became incredibly renowned and was frequently discussed on social media.

Rogan highlighted the unusual occurrence on one of his podcast show, 'The Joe Rogan Experience', calling it "crazy." Merchant, a brazen journalist, has a well-known reputation in combat sports. Mayweather, a fighter, criticized Merchant for his lack of boxing knowledge. Merchant has since gone undefeated, established a brand, and become a billionaire.

'I’d kick your ass'

Rogan laughed a lot remembering the story and stated Merchant was crazy because he said if he was younger, he would beat the best boxer of all time. The UFC commentator and a podcastor said during his podcast show, "Remember when he was in the ring with Floyd Mayweather."

Rogan played the video and laughed uncontrollably saying, "If I was twenty years younger. I’d kick your ass. That’s the craziest thing that anybody could ever say ever. You’re literally talking to the greatest boxer the world has ever known."

Mayweather is not known for his humility; instead, the fighter frequently compares himself to others. It was unusual, however, to see him lash out at Merchant, who is not even a boxer.

'HBO need to fire you'

Mayweather defends his obscene rant against Merchant, who criticized him for a live television fight. Mayweather won the fight by knocking out Victor Ortiz, claiming the WBC welterweight title.

Following the fight, Mayweather seemed irritated by HBO analyst Merchant's frequent queries regarding the contentious nature of his victory. He stopped Merchant's post-fight interview in the ring on live television, stating, "You never give me a fair shake. So I'm gonna let you talk to Victor Ortiz, alright? I'm through."

He went on to say, "They can put somebody else up here to give me an interview. HBO need to fire you. You don't know s*** about boxing. You ain't s***." " He added, "All of these boxing experts - how can you be a boxing expert if you never had a fight before?"
