Joe Rogan's $200 million deal with Spotify will end soon and if he does shift to X, it will drastically expand his podcast's reach

AUSTIN, TEXAS: The podcast culture has been greatly impacted by well-known podcaster and UFC commentator, Joe Rogan. He signed $200 million deal with Spotify in 2020, which will expire soon.

Given his expressed goal for a larger and more diversified following, it stands to reason that the notion that Rogan, were he to reclaim his independence, would greatly expand his impact. So will he continue on Spotify or strike out on his own? Read on to find out.

Joe Rogan mulls over shift to X

After his podcast deal expires, Rogan is expected to shift his podcast broadcast to X. While YouTube is still becoming more and more popular, it's noteworthy to note that just 17% of podcast listeners consciously use Spotify despite the platform's obvious reach, EssentiallySports reported. X (formerly Twitter) reaches a wider audience, globally, than Spotify, without a doubt.

Alternatively, other platforms may try to entice Rogan with more attractive offers if he isn't interested in the freedom that X provides.

Though Rogan has not openly revealed his next platform to broadcast his podcast, he is expected to end his deal with Spotify.

Amazon has a reputation for providing generous deals with less limitations, YouTube is getting into podcasting, and Elon Musk may compete with Rogan for his content as he turns Twitter/X into a platform for creators—as demonstrated by their recent partnership on an episode that was particularly licensed for X.

Elon Musk might allow 3 hours podcast

Elon Musk said that the three-hour audio video capability that Twitter has added will revolutionize the social media landscape.

The CEO of Twitter appears to be trying to compete with Joe Rogan's most popular podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience."

Following a request from a Twitter user that excited content makers, Musk made his decision. The aim of this change is to enhance Twitter's video capabilities and accommodate the increasing demand for podcasts.

The exchange began when Theo Von, an American comedian and podcaster, tweeted about how the platform was comically rigid, which caught Musk's attention.

"My podcast with Roseanne was removed from another platform so i want it to be able to live somewhere. Amen," he wrote, after it had been taken off from another platform.

Renowned podcast presenter Lex Fridman added, "Nice. It would be great to be able to upload 3+ hour podcast videos, with timestamps/chapters. PS: Theo is awesome!" Uploading podcast videos longer than three hours, complete with chapters and timestamps, would be fantastic.
