AUSTIN, TEXAS: During episode #2061 of the 'JRE' podcast with Whitney Cummings, Joe Rogan explored the topic of asbestos in baby powder and its potential harm to humans.

Known as one of the most influential podcasts globally, Joe Rogan's 'JRE' regularly features discussions with a diverse array of celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Elon Musk, and others.

Joe Rogan discusses harmful effects of asbestos in talcum powder

In a discussion with comedian and actress Whitney Cummings, Joe Rogan raised the issue of asbestos in talcum powder.

Cummings said, "We used to put it [talcum] in our underwear before basketball games. There have been 50,000 lawsuits and they (a talc company) paid I think 8 or 9 billion which is probably nothing to them but the women getting ovarian cancer from the asbestos in it."

Rogan added, "Yeah that's what I was reading, that talc and asbestos are often in the same spot and they don't filter it out well. They don't even test to see if the talc has asbestos in it."

Joe Rogan read an article on Google that stated, "Because talc and asbestos are minerals found close together when talc is mined it may contain traces of asbestos. Talcum powder is still an ingredient in several cosmetics brands. As recently as November 2020, a study found 14% of the talc-containing makeup tested also contained asbestos."

"That's wild," Rogan added.

Internet reacts to Joe Rogan's discussion on asbestos in talcum powder

People also seemed to agree with what Rogan said during the podcast.

A user wrote in the comment section of the video, "Now imagine if you started claiming in the 80's baby powder was poisoning you and caused cancer. You would be laughed at and humiliated."

Another person wrote, "My mother used talcum powder for years, ended up getting diagnosed with cancer and passing away from it 18 months later. I still follow through for the lawsuit since she was adamant about getting a verdict that they were in the wrong. I really could care less about compensation since she can not get it."

A person added, "People need to protect themselves and be willing to rebel against the evil that is running the world."

What is asbestos?

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used in various products for its heat-resistant and insulating properties.

Due to the potential health risks associated with asbestos, there have been concerns and legal actions surrounding its presence in talcum powder products.

Many manufacturers have taken steps to ensure that their talcum powder products are asbestos-free, and regulatory authorities monitor and regulate the safety of these products.

Consumers are advised to use talcum powder products with caution and to choose those labeled as asbestos-free.
