Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold will undergo a scan on a suspected hamstring injury suffered in Liverpool's win over Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old hobbled off in the 71st minute of Sunday's clash at Anfield, being replaced by Jarell Quansah due to an injury concern.

It was a disappointing end to what was arguably Alexander-Arnold's best game of the season so far. TAA thoroughly impressed in his inverted full-back role against Aston Villa, even being credited with an assist for Dominik Szoboszlai's opening goal of the game.

Speaking to the press after the game, manager Klopp provided an update on Alexander-Arnold, saying that the player needs to undergo a scan in order to determine the severity of the injury.

He said: "I'm interested as well. I don't know exactly. It's [his] hamstring - not too serious, is his opinion.

"We have to wait for the scan."

Reflecting on the win itself, Klopp was keen to hail a 'top performance' from his team against a talented Villa outfit.

"It's one of those phrases in football that 'an early goal will help the game' and it helped us, definitely. It was a fantastic goal, it was worked on in training that if the ball came in that direction then Dominik is a threat.

"The game in general was a really good one. I couldn't respect Aston Villa and Unai Emery more for what they're doing, it's so difficult to play them and we realise that from all the games we've played them in.

"Today we were really, really strong, and it's an important sign for us that we can do things like that.

"I saw a lot of top performances, I saw a lot of desire which is super important, and organisation and a willingness to defend together. We had more counter attacks than in any other games because of the way we defended."

Liverpool will be back in Premier League action after the international break when they face off against Wolves at Molineux.
