CALABASAS, CALIFORNIA: 'The Kardashians' star Kourtney Kardashian recently took to her Instagram to drop her fourth pregnancy photos and was instantly slammed by the internet, as people called her "narcissistic."
The post was made with the caption, "Pregnancy is so empowering." Kardashian was seen sporting a black bra and a matching black outfit while revealing her baby bump. Previously, in June, Kardashian had disclosed that she is expecting her first child with Travis Barker.
Several fans expressed their discontent at Kardashian's caption, calling her out for being "narcissistic" and for "glamorizing" pregnancy.
One user wrote, "I agree but I’m just gonna say, as a pregnant woman, that outfit looks very uncomfortable," while another user commented, "Pregnancy is so glamorized. It’s beautiful but hard. Let’s talk about the hard more so girls don’t think of it just being this glamorous walk in the park."
Another user questioned Kardashian's feelings of empowerment, asking, "For who? You needed mommy and Travis back to hold your hand. Not everyone has the money or means to do that. A shout out to the single moms working 2 jobs. They got power."
One user remarked, "Apparently, it empowers your narcissism. Keep photos like this for your own scrapbook. You weren’t like this with other pregnancies."
One person also said, "Glad the baby is doing well but this post is unchecked privilege especially sporting ridiculous outfits."
Another user stated, "Kourtney you don't look very empowered in these pics. Looks more like "can't wait until this is over". God bless you and your new son."
One pregnant fan couldn't help disagreeing with Kardashian as they pointed out, "Personally not finding it empowering, finding it hard work and feeling sick the whole way through."
Another user referred to Kardashian's privilege, asking, "Can you help me empower myself? Don’t have the resources for IVF."
One user emphasized the need to stop glamorizing pregnancy, pointing out, "Pregnancy doesn't need to be glorified. It's not glitz and glamour that's for sure."
Another person asked in the comments, "What is empowering about being told you can’t do anything for nine months?" A person also said, "Another baby brought into the narcissistic world of kardash/jenner bubble."
'The Kardashians' star Kourtney Kardashian undergoes urgent fetal surgery
In a recent Instagram post from September 6, Kardashian revealed that she had to be rushed to the hospital to undergo "urgent fetal surgery."
According to the Mayo Clinic, "Fetal surgery is a procedure performed on an unborn baby (fetus) in the uterus (in utero) to help improve the long-term outcome of children with specific birth defects." The procedure went desirably well and doctors were able to save Kardashian's baby.
She posted a black and white photo of holding her husband Barker's hand and went on to thank her doctors, writing, "I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life."
She also added, "I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this."
She further wrote, "As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery."
Explaining her perspective further, she said, "I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant."
"Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing," concluded Kourtney.
