The FA have confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister's straight red card during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday has been rescinded.

The FA have confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister's straight red card during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday has been rescinded.

Mac Allister was given his marching orders in his home debut for the Reds - having joined from Brighton and Hove Albion during the summer transfer window - for a tackle that was deemed to be reckless and out of control on Scotland international Ryan Christie.

In the 57th minute of the game, both Christie and Mac Allister went in for a bouncing ball with the former narrowly flicking the ball before the latter. Referee Craig Pawson decided the Liverpool midfielder had gone in too aggressively and surprisingly gave the World Cup winner his marching orders.

Liverpool appealed the decision in a bid to have the mandatory three-game suspension overturned, and the FA have now confirmed that Mac Allister will not face a ban.

"An independent Regulatory Commission has removed Alexis Mac Allister's three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal," the FA's statement read. "The Liverpool midfielder was sent off for serious foul play during their Premier League game against Bournemouth on Saturday, 19 August."

Luckily for Liverpool the red card didn't effect proceedings at Anfield too much, with the Reds adding a third goal five minutes later through Diogo Jota in what proved to be a comfortable win for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Klopp will now be able to call upon the Argentine for their upcoming Premier League games against Newcastle United, Aston Villa and a post-international break clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
