Liverpool's best and worst players in their 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool kickstarted their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and Reds fans will likely be relatively happy with the point they secured

A Luis Diaz goal had given Liverpool a slender lead early on before Axel Disasi scored an equaliser before half-time in what was a very entertaining game.

Here's who 90min picked as Liverpool's best and worst players on the day:

Liverpool's best player vs Chelsea

Alexis Mac Allister - 7/10

Alexis Mac Allister is basically everyone's tip to be 'signing of the summer' and on Sunday at Stamford Bridge we saw exactly why.

The World Cup winner was, by quite a considerable distance, Liverpool's best midfield performer on the day and battled well throughout the 90 minutes. When he inevitably gets a bit more help in the middle of the park in the coming weeks - likely in the form of Romeo Lavia - his performances will only improve too.

Honourable mention

Mohamed Salah - 7/10

Salah, as he usually is, was the spark in the final third for Liverpool once again.

While that spark faded in the second half - culminating in him being subbed off, much to his own annoyance - his stunning pass through the heart of the Chelsea defence which led to Luis Diaz's opener was a vital contribution made in the first half.

Liverpool's worst player vs Chelsea

Cody Gakpo - 4/10

Let's get this straight immediately: Cody Gakpo not having a particularly great game was not his fault, it was Jurgen Klopp's.

The manager dropped the Dutch forward into a midfield role at Stamford Bridge and he, as expected, looked like a fish out of water.

Dishonourable mention

Diogo Jota - 4/10

Starting ahead of Darwin Nunez and Gakpo as the false nine, Jota didn't do his future hopes of gametime in that role many favours with his performance on Sunday.
