During an appearance on Tate's podcast, Lord Miles revealed that he had traveled to Afghanistan on five occasions since his initial evacuation during the Kabul airlift in 2021 when the Taliban assumed control, as per Arab News

Lord Miles disclosed that he spent a significant portion of his time watching movies with those overseeing his house arrest, including titles such as 'Titanic' and 'Rambo III.'

While residing in the capital, Lord Miles mentioned that he had purchased 'Taliban merch' to resell in the Western world, as reported by Arab News.

During the podcast, Tate remarked that he “had a lot in common with the Talibros,” alluding to Afghan "traditional family values" and a preference for large families, as per Arab News.

According to Arab News, Lord Miles commented on Afghanistan, stating, "Everyone is in their place and acting well, which is excellent to see."

He mentioned that after his release, he was flown to Dubai to meet with Foreign Office officials who inquired about his well-being.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office, at the time of his release, which also included the release of three other British nationals, conveyed the government's regret over the incident.

Lord Miles initially visited Afghanistan in 2021 while studying physics at Loughborough University in the UK because the “food seemed amazing and it was dirt cheap,” as reported by Arab News.
