Manchester United have been forced to close their megastore at Old Trafford due to an arranged protest against the club's owners, the Glazer family.

The Red Devils launched their new home kit for the 2023/24 season on Tuesday morning, but sales from their flagship store were quickly disrupted by protestors.

Fans remain angry at the Glazers due to their ownership but also because of the delay to the takeover process. They have received record offers from consortiums led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani but have not yet selected even a preferred bidder.

Supporters arrived at Old Trafford shortly after the kit was officially unveiled in their numbers and with pyrotechnics, forcing workers to close the megastore.

The protest was premeditated, with the Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) releasing a statement on social media leading up to the kit launch.

"The overwhelming majority of United fans want to see a conclusion to this protracted sale process with the majority supporting a full sale, at least based on our soundings. Protest planned on Tuesday to make that message clear," the statement read.

Protestors have since dispersed and the megastore has been reopened.

The takeover saga has coincided with the beginning of the summer transfer window, with Man Utd yet to make a signing ahead of the new season.

90min understands they have seen three bids rejected by Chelsea for Mason Mount but a fourth offer is not currently in the works.

They also remain in talks with David de Gea over a new contract with his current deal up at the end of the week, but have set their sights on Inter's Andre Onana in case they need to find a new goalkeeper.
