A look at what’s happening in European soccer on Wednesday:
ENGLAND
Brighton hosts Manchester City and needs one point to qualify for the Europa League for the first time in club history. City has already wrapped up its third straight Premier League title. Both teams have two games remaining. Brighton leads seventh-place Aston Villa by three points and has a game in hand.
SPAIN
Real Madrid hosts Rayo Vallecano looking to regain second place in the Spanish league. Madrid sits one point behind Atletico Madrid, which visits Espanyol on Thursday. Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior, who was racially abused against Valencia last weekend, was not included in the team’s squad for the home match against Valladolid. Cadiz visits Villarreal to try to move further away from the relegation zone. Villarreal needs a victory to keep alive its chances of catching fourth-place Real Sociedad for the final Champions League place. Relegated Elche hosts ninth-place Sevilla.
