Minnie Driver shared the incident in the comment section of a post containing anecdotes about actor Nicolas Cage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage has his heart in the right place and he is certainly not the mean person that the Internet makes him out to be. The 'Renfield' star was being called out on social media for being mean when actress Minnie Driver took to the comments section to clear things up by sharing a touching anecdote about the 59-year-old 'Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' actor in the comments section of the Instagram post dissing him.

According to Driver, Cage once purchased an extra seat on the plane for his son's imaginary friend. In an Instagram post published on Monday, June 26, the 'Good Will Hunting' actress shared the endearing tale to show that Cage wasn't as petty as a fan had said.

The 53-year-old British actress's comment received more than 300 likes as she said, "Was once on a plane with NC and his son and a seat had also been purchased for his son's imaginary friend." This comment was made on a throwback page named 'Thirty AF', where the post caption is "When I started getting today's carousel ready late last night, I did not anticipate that it would be entirely focused on a one Mr. Nicolas Cage. Really was not on my bingo card for the week. But here we are, and I am embracing it. Things don't always have to make sense.

And now, a Nic Cage roundup to brighten your Monday feeds. Have the best day, fam."

The actress may have been alluding to either Kal-El, 17, or Weston, 32, of Cage's two kids. She shared her account in response to a woman's accusation that a hotel manager had urged her and her fiance to give up their wedding suite so that a "celebrity" may reportedly remain in the room "long term." The bride, however, insisted that they rejected his request, as reported by Page Six.

'We saw Nicolas Cage walking around our hotel'

She continued alleging, "On our wedding weekend, we saw Nicolas Cage walking around our hotel." She said, "Nic Cage tried to ruin my wedding and that's my story." However, Minnie Driver presented a heartwarming story where the actor had reserved a seat for his son's make-believe companion.

It is unclear which of his sons Minnie was referring to as Nicolas Cage has two sons. He welcomed Weston in 1990 with his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton and Kal-El in 2005 with his now-divorced third wife Alice Kim. In September 2022, Cage and Riko Shibata had their first child, August Francesca. The couple got married in March 2021.

In an interview with Access Hollywood last year, Cage said, "My boys are all grown up, and I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair." He continued, "I'm looking forward to getting back to that." Cage has been married a total of five times, including his marriage to Erika Koike, which lasted just four days.
