The New York Yankees roster could look much different after the MLB trade deadline if these MLB rumors are true.

Could the New York Yankees be looking to move on from players who will be free agents next season? According to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, the New York Yankees seem to be in partial sell mode as the MLB trade deadline approaches.

In his article, Sherman writes, "the Yankees have let interested teams know they are open to talking about their walk-year players — a group headlined by Harrison Bader, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Wandy Peralta and Luis Severino."

MLB Rumors: Yankees having a change of plans at the MLB trade deadline?

It was just last trade deadline that the Yankees swung a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals to acquire Bader, hoping it would solve their defensive issues in center field. However, Bader was dealing with an injury when acquired and got in just 49 plate appearances in pinstripes, slashing .217/.245/.283 with no homers and nine RBI.

This season, Bader has improved those numbers in the Bronx, slashing .260/.287/.423 with seven homers and 33 RBI in 210 plate appearances. However, he is scheduled to be a free agent next season, so his future in New York is anything but certain.

The same can be said for Kiner-Falefa, Peralta and Severino as New York entered Monday's play with a 55-50 mark, 9.0 games out of first place in the American League East … and actually sitting in the bottom of the division. Things look better in the Wild Card race, however, as the Yankees are just 3.5 games out of the final spot. With the Yankees being so close, would they really consider selling off some of their assets who may not be a part of their plan for the 2024 campaign?

At what should be a wild end to the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday at 6 p.m. (Eastern), it seems everything is in play for the New York Yankees.
