The MLB The Show 23 cover athlete will be revealed in an upcoming Twitch stream on Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. ET, per an announcement by Sony San Diego Studios on the official MLB The Show Twitter account.
MLB The Show 23 is set to the the next entry in SDS' popular baseball franchise and a cover athlete reveal is the first major announcement leading the way. Last year, two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was the cover athlete. SDS went as far as well to release a special edition designed by Takashi Okazaki featuring Ohtani. SDS also released special Diamond Dynasty items designed by Okazaki including Ohtani at 99 overall.
MLB The Show 23 Cover Athlete Reveal Coming Jan. 30
There aren't a ton of clues as to who will be the cover athlete, but the announcement tweet did include tags for Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, MLB Network host Robert Flores and artist King Saladeen.
Most can assume those three will be involved somewhat in the Jan. 30 stream. As far as favorites for the cover, here are some names to watch:
- Jazz Chisholm - Miami Marlins
- Yordan Alvarez - Houston Astros
- Francisco Lindor - New York Mets
- Jose Ramirez - Cleveland Guardians
- Jacob deGrom - Texas Rangers
With Spida being tagged and presumably part of the reveal stream, Cleveland Guardians third baseman, Jose Ramirez, might be the favorite for some. Though, Mitchell is an outspoken New York Mets fan so perhaps Ramirez's former teammate Lindor is in line to be the cover star. The last Met to be a cover athlete was David Wright back in MLB The Show 07.
